A Cloth Diaper Story: Sarah

I have one daughter named Melody, and she will be 11 months in a few weeks.

About Sarah
I am a full time working, first time mom who used to have time for hobbies until I had baby!

How long have you been cloth diapering?
Since my baby was 4 months. We cloth diaper part time - whenever I'm home during the weekdays, and on the weekends.

Why did you choose to cloth diaper?
I heard so much about cloth diapering from my mommy group. I loved the idea of helping the environment and that it is healthier for my baby. Thankfully the ladies in my group were super helpful in answering all my newbie questions, telling me all about the pros and cons of CDing, explaining how to prep and care for them, and providing shopping resources. They were also helpful in helping me decide which brands to try out first. I really value their opinions since many of them have been cloth diapering for so long (through multiple children). I don't think I would have ever started the CDing journey if it weren't for their guidance!

What diapers are in your stash?

I have an eclectic stash - we use: Grovia, gDiapers, BumGeniusFuzzibunz, Bumkins, Sunbaby, Alva, MG Baby, and Best Bottoms.

Favorite diaper in your stash?
Even though they're not name brand, I really like our Sunbaby diapers! I purchase them because the prints are so cute! (and no problems or leaks with them yet!)

Biggest cloth diapering challenge?
Finding the perfect diaper.

Favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Everything!  I particularly love to see the reactions, either good or bad, from people when they find out that I cloth diaper.

Least favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Un-stuffing pocket diapers.

Favorite piece of parenting or cloth diaper advice?
Do your research! Before I started CDing I did lots of "research" - asking fellow CDing moms tons of questions,  reading blogs and how-to sites, and tons of product reviews. It helped me narrow down what I wanted to try out first so I didn't spend too much money. Once I was comfortable cloth diapering, I felt better about shopping. I would also recommend joining swap sites! It'll save you TONS of money if you're trying to CD on a budget. There is nothing wrong with gently used diapers and I've had a great experience buying and selling through swaps.

Anything extra you'd like to share?
Moms, read this wonderful letter from a fellow mom blogger.  It'll put a smile on your face :)
