Traveling During the Flats Challenge

I am taking part in the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry.  For 7 days I will be using only flat cloth diapers and handwashing them in an effort to prove that cloth diapering can be affordable and accessible to all.  You can learn more about the rules and why this challenge was started by visiting the announcement post.  This year there are over 450 participants from all over the world!

Today is Saturday! Only one more day left of the flats challenge! It's been a great learning experience! Today I want to write about traveling during the flats challenge.

For the first 3 and 1/2 days we were at home. I had worked myself into a routine of hand washing twice a day and drying my flat diapers on our back porch, hanging on the drying rack during the day and then at night in my living room. On Thursday, we traveled to visit my parents. We are still here and I'm keeping up with the flats challenge away from home.

I've only been hand washing once a day since we got here because I've been busy spending time with family. Honestly, I haven't wanted to put the time into washing diapers. My dad has joked with me about how he has a nice washing machine that works wonders. My parents have been great about letting me wash diapers in the bathtub at the their house. I've loved having access to a clothesline to hang my diapers on instead of the rack.

It's been tough watching my sister in law change my nephew into her cute pockets. I miss the cute prints of my pockets and the ease of the diaper changes, but I am committed to finishing out the challenge! Only one more day left to go!
