H-pods are a hybrid disposable insert that fit in both the Omni and Echo shells. They are made from bamboo viscose and are one-sized. H-pods are biodegradable and come in packs of 20 for $7.95. That works out to about 39 cents per diaper change. SoftBums recommends using one pod for younger babies or two pods stacked together for toddlers or overnights. If you have a toddler, the cost becomes 78 cents a diaper change. Compared to disposable diapers, hybrid inserts are more expensive than most disposable diapers, but if you compare the cost to a "greener" disposable diaper, like Honest Company, the cost per diaper change is about the same.
The SoftBums H-pod is a rectangular insert that lays on top of your SoftBums shell. There is no sticky backing or way to attach the pod to the shell, but it stays in place perfectly. At each diaper change, just toss the insert and add another. If the shell gets soiled, you'll need to wash it before use again.
We have potty trained during the day, but still need something absorbent for naps and nights. Sometimes my toddler will have a great day and wake up dry from those sleep times, but he's not always consistent. We used the H-pods at nap time. The H-pod creates a ridiculously trim diaper! The H-pod is incredibly soft and creates a comfortable, disposable option for my son. We didn't experience any leaks or have issues with bunching or soiling the shell.
The H-pod is a great option for those times you need to use a disposable diaper. Whether your traveling or using a diaper cream that isn't safe for cloth, I would recommend the H-pod to all of you SoftBums lovers!
