A Cloth Diaper Story: Jeniffer S.
Abby, 21 months and Lily, 3 month (already?? GAH!)
I'm a SAHM to two little girls who love to keep me busy! Babywearing is helping me stay sane these days, especially with the never-ending pile of laundry (cloth diapers and otherwise).
I'm also a co-blogger at Sisters 'N Cloth and I co-host the Breastfeeding Blog Hop. I enjoy entering giveaways, collecting my favorite cloth diapers (AppleCheeks and BumGenius), and knitting (when I get the chance!) I do NOT enjoy cleaning, but I sometimes enjoy baking.
How long have you been cloth diapering?
Even though I wanted to cloth diaper since before I got pregnant with Abby, I had a hard time at first and used disposables for the most part until she was about 4 months old. So...I've been part-time cloth diapering for 19 months and full-time cloth diapering for 15 months.
Why did you choose to cloth diaper?
My first reason to cloth diaper was the cute factor. My sister-in-law (and now co-blogger), Melissa, showed me lots of cute baby bums, and that reeled me in. My secondary reason was to save money, but it's the reason why we stay in cloth now.
What diapers are in your stash?
I mostly use BumGenius and AppleCheeks now.
Here is a link, though it needs updating. ;)
Favorite diaper in your stash?
My absolute favorite diaper is my bumGenius Freetime in Lovelace. The snaps are to die for!
Biggest cloth diapering challenge?
Ugh...rashes. Which comes from not getting my cloth diapers clean enough in our cold-water-only washer. (The washer doesn't have a hot water hookup. We asked to get one put in, but our landlord said no.) I seriously dream for hot water in our washer.
Favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Seeing my daughters' adorably-clad bums peek out from underneath their dresses. Especially when the cloth diapers match the dresses. :)
Least favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Did I mention rashes? And washing. Well, rinsing. To try to get the diapers clean enough, I rinse a LOT.
Favorite piece of parenting or cloth diaper advice?
Listen to your baby first and the experts second.
Anything extra you'd like to share?
I've fallen in love with Instagram lately. It's my favorite, and I stalk it like I used to stalk Twitter. As in, all the time.
