A Cloth Diaper Story: Karolyn

KAROLYN

Children
2 kids: a daughter, age 5 and a son, age 2

About Karolyn
I worked as an RN prior to the birth of my children. Now I maintain an Etsy shop, which carries cloth diapering supplies.

How long have you been cloth diapering?
5 years

Why did you choose to cloth diaper?
The environmental impact was my first concern.  Since starting the process of cloth diapers, I have learned and fell in love with the various health benefits.

What diapers are in your stash?
Mostly prefolds and wool covers/longies.  Though I have several fitteds as well.

Favorite diaper in your stash?
Esbaby Fitted, side snap

Biggest cloth diapering challenge?
Laundering with hard water.

Favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Since discovering wool diapering, I am obsessed.  The benefits of wool are endless and I simply love to find new ways to incorporate wool into my routine.

Least favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Obviously, washing the diapers is the least appealing part ;)

Favorite piece of parenting or cloth diaper advice?
Keep it simple: start small and find what works for you.  Use a variety of diapers and determine your favorite before fully investing.  Also, don't be afraid of used diapers.  Many people receive cloth diapers as gifts and never use them.  Craigslist is a great place to score like new/barely used dipes.
