A Cloth Diaper Story: Kelly

This is the first installment of A Cloth Diaper Story! I'm happy to introduce to you my dear friend Kelly! Kelly is a fellow cloth diapering mama that I met through Twitter.  Thanks Kelly for sharing your story!

KELLY

Children
4 year old daughter
1 year old son

About Kelly
Licensed audiologist turned SAHM, turned PT audiologist. I enjoy playing on my iPad, waterskiing, knitting, sewing, and watching Supernatural.

How long have you been cloth diapering?
7 months

Why did you choose to cloth diaper?
Tired and disgusted of taking trash bag after trash bag of diapers to the dump. Disposable diapers were leaking at night. Saving money, but with my obsessive diaper purchasing, I doubt I've done that.

What diapers are in your stash?
bumGenius 4.0s and Freetimes mostly. Some HTF (hard to find) brands, hybrid fitteds. Sbish fitteds and wool covers for nighttime.

Favorite diaper in your stash?
Chelory Paint Splatter SD AIO

Biggest cloth diapering challenge?
My biggest CD challenge has been getting rid of ammonia stink in my overnight diapers. I had problems for months, tried everything I could think of, everything that was recommended to me. Got so bad that DS has bleeding every morning. Finally solved it by switching to Tide. Not cloth diaper safe, but *shoulder shrug*' it worked.

Favorite thing about cloth diapering?
Although I love not putting more diapers in a landfill and seeing a cute fluffy butt, my favorite thing about cloth diapering is the friends I have made through the social networking circles of CD moms. I never expected that part of cloth diapering. Those moms get my through the day.

Least favorite thing about cloth diapering?
My least favorite thing is needing different diapers for naptime, nighttime, traveling, short trips out, long trips out, and making sure there are enough clean ones for each need.

Favorite piece of parenting or cloth diaper advice?
Different strokes for different folks.

Anything extra you'd like to share?
I love you Jenny.
